To meet this demand, we developed a great tasting malt product and an excellent wine-based product under the 99 Brand name. Both malt-based and wine-based 99 Brand products are made using our proprietary recipe, capturing the essence of the 99 Brand taste and multiple flavor experience consumers love. We can now offer these malt-based and wine-based 99 Brand products around the world including an additional 170,000 stores in the U.S. that can only sell beer, malt beverages and wine products, but not spirits.

The malt-based and wine-based versions of 99 Brand are alcohol alternatives to spirt-based offerings. They have been carefully crafted by our team to have similar flavors to our spirit-based 99 Brand flavors.
Unlike the spirit-based version of 99 Brand with 99 proof, the malt- and wine-based versions of 99 Brand can be sold in beer, malt beverage and wine stores for our fans who want a wider variety of convenient shopping locations and are lower-proof (5% ABV / 10 proof to 49.5% ABV / 99 proof).

You can determine the alcohol base of the product (spirit, malt, or wine) by reading the bottom of the front label on the bottle.
What is the difference between the 99 Brand versions?
Our malt-based version of 99 Brand is lower proof and the bottom front label of the bottle or bottom of shrink-wrapped multipacks states that it is a “malt beverage with natural flavors.”
The spirit-based versions of 99 Brand with 99 proof or 42 proof have higher proofs and labels that state that the product is a “Liqueur.”

How can I tell the difference between 99 Brand products?
There are key differences between the 99 Brand labels.

Unlike the spirit-based version of 99 Brand, the malt- and wine-based versions of 99 Brand can be sold in beer, malt beverage and wine stores for our fans who want the widest variety of convenient shopping locations. However, many states and countries have laws that prohibit malt beverage and wine-based products being sold above a certain alcohol content. We chose an alcohol content that would allow us to provide our fans with great tasting products and with as many additional shopping locations as possible.
Is malt-based or wine-based 99 Brand replacing 99 Brand 99 proof (spirits-based)?
No, absolutely not. The spirit-based versions of 99 Brand continue to be available in liquor stores across the country. Currently, 99 Brand Ready-To-Drink (RTD) products are available in the US. These are malt-based offerings at lower proof than our traditional 99 Brand spirits-based offerings.
